Alpine conducted data recovery at seven sites near Durango for the Colorado Department of Transportation’s US 550/160 Connection South Project in La Plata County, Colorado. From the recovery, over 200,000 cultural materials were collected, analyzed, reported on, and curated using modern day standards. The artifacts contribute to understanding the critical Pueblo I period in the Animas River drainage. These artifacts are now curated at the Canyons of the Ancients Museum (CANM), where the materials can be accessed and used to the fullest of their research potential. The image features Meghan Grizzle with all curated material prior to its delivery to CANM.
